The Naalak Gathering 2019: A regional Dialogue on Indigenous research governance
The Naalak Gathering is the first meeting of its kind to specifically engage research ethics boards and research governing bodies.
It was co-developed by the NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) and the NCC Research Advisory Committee (RAC), with representatives from eight institutional Research Ethics Boards in Atlantic Canada.
Naalak is an Inuttut word that means 'to listen and to pay close attention'.
A group of 50 people from all over Atlantic Canada came together for 2 days of collaborative, connected learning. A summary report is available through the NunatuKavut webpage (or click the image of the document).
The Naalak Gathering is a knowledge-sharing, knowledge-mobilizing, and knowledge-in-action event with inaugural Gathering hosted on traditional Innu and Inuit territory (Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL), March 20-21, 2019.
We look forward to travelling to Nunatsiavut (Nain, NL) where our relations will host the Naalak 2020 Gathering....
Stay tuned here and on social media for updates!
